The first time I got here throughout the concept of common law marriage was within the Internal Revenue Service’s instructions for finishing tax returns. I was cohabitating at the time, and wasn’t positive whether or not my state, Arizona, was a commonlaw state that will have allowed us to file as married for tax functions.
