Wood science is the study of wood as a material that is renewable and of biological origin. In other words, the term wood science can also be known as wood technology. The use of copper metal is another method of wood treatment that is fast being accepted. This method, unlike the ACQ, is friendly to the metal fasteners and its gaining popularity very fast. This process is what in other words called the micronized copper wood preservative. In this process microscopic particles of solid copper metal are mixed in a liquid carrier and injected to the wood at high pressure. The process eliminates the need to dissolve the copper as is done in earlier copper-based preservatives. When this process is used to treat timber the timber properties are increased highly. The wood products protected using this method last longer.
The micronized copper preservative has proven to be highly effective in protecting the wood against fungal decay and termites. It has also shown to be an improvement in corrosion resistant properties to metal fasteners. The wood treated using this method last longer and is stronger.
